What is BIFL?

Buy It For Life — the philosophy and how BIFLP scores products.

BIFL stands for Buy It For Life — the idea that some products are worth paying more for upfront because they last years or decades instead of months.

What we track

Most review sites tell you if something feels good on day one. We track what matters over years:

  • How long does it realistically last in daily use?
  • What usually fails first?
  • Can it be repaired — and how easily?
  • Do long-term owners still recommend it after 5+ years?

How the BIFLP score works

Each product gets a score from 0–10 built from five weighted sub-scores:

  • Durability (35%) — how well it physically holds up
  • Community trust (20%) — what long-term owners report
  • Repairability (20%) — how easy it is to repair or refurbish
  • Warranty (15%) — strength and reliability of the warranty
  • Value longevity (10%) — whether the cost is justified by lifespan

Scores reflect real evidence. We note confidence level when data is limited.
